Much like other southern states, Texas does not have a restriction on having a certification in order to practice as a postpartum doula. So, you can work or be employed in the state without having to become certified. Additionally, there is no requirement to have a high school diploma or equivalent in order to work in Texas.

This 2 day postpartum doula training workshop that is required for a CPD (Certified Postpartum Doula) through CAPPA. You do not have to be affiliated or enrolled with CAPPA to attend. The workshop is offered on 10th-11th, 2021 at 8:30am to 5:30pm MST.

The average time to complete the curriculum is 1 year. Once completed, you will become certified as a birth and postpartum doula with Mother Me. The requirements are as follows:
- attend 6 day doula workshop
- read the required reading list once you’ve registered
- complete monthly webinars
- tandem training with fellow doulas
- participate in quarterly reviews
- attend 2 breastfeeding classes

As part of your postpartum doula training, these classes will cover the following:
- Learn how to provide emotional support and comfort measures to a pregnant mother
- Discuss all aspects of birth including physical changes to the emotional impact
- Understand the significance of bonding in the postpartum period
- Learn how to give breastfeeding support in order to empower the new mother as a parent
- Engage in infant care such as bathing and diapering
