Postpartum Doula Training in Nevada

States in the southwestern US such as Nevada do not have a regulation on having a certification in order to practice as a postpartum doula.  Therefore, you can work or be employed in the state without having passed a certification curriculum.  Additionally, there is no requirement to have graduated college in order to work in Nevada.

Course and Workshop Details and Requirements

This is a 2 day postpartum doula training workshop (20 hours total).  This workshop satisfies the workshop requirement of a ProDoula certification as a postpartum and infant care doula. The workshop is offered on April 1-2, 2017.

Costs and Fees

The cost for the postpartum doula workshop is $595  There is a ProDoula membership fee of $75 for the first year and $50 for subsequent years.

Basics of Newborn Care class – 2.5 hours
Breastfeeding class – 3 hours
Infant CPR class – 1.5 hours

These courses serve as a starting point for education, but are not affiliated with a certification granting organization such as DONA.

  • Discuss the aspects of newborn physiology such as growth, development, safety issues
  • Learn about challenges of newborn care such as sleeping issues, parental fatigue
  • Understand how to calm a fussy baby and how to bond as a family
  • Discuss breastfeeding issues such as nutrition and positioning
  • Learn when and how to perform infant CPR
