Doula Training in Vermont

If you are a doula or training to become one, you are not required to be certified in Vermont in order to work.  Additionally, there is no requirement for a degree from a university. Pursuing a certification is entirely voluntary and dependent on your professional objectives.

This is a 2 day labor doula training workshop  which is required for CAPPA certification.  This workshop is offered on the following dates and times:

  • November 11-12, 2017

Course and Workshop Details and Requirements

  • 1 day Introduction course to Childbirth for Doulas (7 hours, required for DONA certification)
  • 2 day, 16 hour Birth doula training workshop (required for DONA certification)

Course and Workshop Topics
As part of your doula training, these courses will cover the following:

  • Define the various stages of labor and birth
  • The importance of being an advocate and companion to the mother
  • Identify the different discomforts of birth and how to give comfort to the mother
  • General anatomy and physiology of birth
  • Learn the potential difficulties and outcomes of birth 
  • Discuss postpartum support for both the mother and newborn
  • Discuss the certification process

  • Learn about various medical options, interventions, medications, and procedures such as Cesareans/VBACs

  • Discuss how different mothers have different birth wishes
  • Learn how to communicate with your client and how to market yourself and your business
